Best Ski Resort Awards 2026

Are our guests “happy”?

Which top ski resorts in the Alpine region achieve the highest guest satisfaction scores?

Already for the 7th time (after 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2020 and 2023) the presentation of the results of the largest and most meaningful study in the Alpine region – Best Ski Resort – took place this time at the MCI in Innsbruck (Tyrol).

In the winter of 2025/26, over 41,200 guests were surveyed – directly in the mountain restaurants and in the ski huts – using the random method (accompanied self-completion). 24 interviewers were on the spot in 49 selected top ski resorts in Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Germany and France for a total of 248 days!

Overall satisfaction has risen slightly again

Looking at the results, it is striking that the overall satisfaction has once again, following a downward trend from 2018 to 2023, risen slightly once more! From 7.86 in 2023 to 7.95 now. (Scale 1 to 10).

Particularly striking is the marked improvement in French ski destinations. Whilst these have managed to improve their ratings in several areas, some Italian destinations have lost a little ground compared with the last survey. Ski resorts in Austria and Switzerland, on the other hand, have recorded moderate improvements and continue to maintain their strong market position.

Focus on value for money

Value for money remains a key factor in a ski resort’s appeal. Although prices for lift passes, food and drink, and accommodation have risen significantly in many top ski resorts in recent years, both the number of overnight stays and the number of first-time visitors have continued to rise.

However, recent studies show that guests’ price sensitivity has noticeably increased. Families in particular are now paying closer attention to costs and assess value for money more critically than they did a few years ago. With an overall score of 6.69 compared to an average satisfaction rating of 7.95, this represents a difference of around 16%. Nevertheless, a slight improvement was achieved compared to 2023 (2023: 6.49)!
